Augmented Visual Inspection

Put the CAD model on the real part

Augmented reality overlays the digital definition onto the physical assembly, so an operator sees what should be there and what is missing, without a paper traveller.

Overview

Visual inspection is still the last checkpoint, and still mostly paper

On most assembly lines the final quality gate is a person with a drawing, a checklist, and experience. It catches a great deal, and it is also the step most exposed to fatigue, interpretation, and undocumented judgment. When something is missed, the record of what was checked rarely survives the shift.

Augmented visual inspection replaces the drawing with the model itself. The CAD definition is registered to the physical part and drawn over it in real time, so the operator sees the intended geometry aligned with what is actually in front of them.

Every check is captured as it happens, which turns inspection into data rather than a signature. See it as a system on the SuPAR product page.

How an AR inspection runs

The full workflow, from imported model to recorded finding.

How it works

Model in, inspection out

The inspection is prepared once on a PC and then runs on the floor, with every finding written back as structured data.

01

Import the CAD model

The digital definition, including PMI, is brought in and the inspection template is configured on a PC before anything reaches the floor.

02

Register to the real part

Dynamic real-time tracking locks the model to the physical assembly and holds the overlay as the operator and the part move.

03

Inspect and record

The operator steps through the template, flags what is wrong, and every finding is written to the database as structured, reviewable data.

Augmented reality check for missing holes on an aerospace part

Applications

Aerospace assemblies

Missing holes, fastener type and placement, bracket presence, and harness routing on structures where a paper check is slow and a miss is expensive. See aerospace and defense.

Applications

Vehicle and chassis build

Large frames and chassis where the inspector walks the part and the checklist is long. Configuration and option verification before the unit leaves the station. See automotive.

Applications

Door and panel inspection

Panel fit, fastener presence and trim configuration checked against the model at the station.
