Image Correlation Applied to Single Crystal Plasticity Experiments and Comparison to Strain Gage Data

Full-field optical techniques are compared with strain gage rosettes on the 6 Degrees of Freedom (6DOF) experiment designed to validate dislocation dynamics simulations on molybdenum single crystals. Image correlation measures inhomogeneous plastic strains that conventional strain gages cannot capture during single-crystal compression.
